Wind Energy

What Kind of Wind Turbines does Sundance Solar sell?

Here at Sundance Solar we sell Southwest Windpower Wind Turbines. For 20 years, Southwest Windpower has been bringing low-cost, reliable wind energy to the world. As the world's largest producer of small wind generators, they've pioneered new technologies to make renewable energy simple.

We carry the Air-X Air Breeze and Whisper models.

Will Wind Work For Me?

There are 4 basic factors to consider before choosing wind as an energy source:

1) Site Location of a wind generator determines the future performance of the machine. The ideal location for a wind turbine is 20 feet above any surrounding object within a 250-foot radius. This generally means your property should be at least one acre in size.

2) Wind Resource You should have at least a 9 MPH average wind speed at your intended location. Please look at wind maps (see below) to be sure that you have the right wind resource. You should live in a “Class One” or better site location.

3) Local Laws You must determine if you have any local laws from city or county or as well as a Home Owner’s Association that disallow use of wind towers.

4) Incentives and Programs By law, local utility companies (company you pay your electrical bill to) must purchase any excess electricity from you. Please contact your local utility company for more information. Also, please see federal and state rebates (see DSIRE LINK below).
