PowerFilm solar panels are amorphous silicon on a polymer substrate. Use the standard series panels for all kinds of creative battery-charging projects. To use them outdoors where there might be rain or condensation, you'll need to weatherize the solder points where the wires attach.
The PowerFilm WeatherPro Series solar panels are specially designed for outdoor use, with extra-rugged construction, a UV-stabilized surface, extra edge seal for weather protection, and tin-coated copper leads that extend from the module. Coat the solder points with household silicone sealant to create a tightly sealed package.
