| | Build a Fuel Cell Car that Runs off of Water!
The newest fuel cell car kit from Thames & Kosmos, designed for younger ages (10 and up) than the Original Solar Fuel Cell Car Kit.
With this kit you can build a car that runs off of water. Learn how electricity can be used to separate water into hydrogen and oxygen. Then use the stored gases to power the experimental car. This kit is not solar powered but is a great introduction to fuel cell technology.
Fuel cells are a promising energy technology for the future. 16 page manual contains complete step-by-step instructions and an explanation of how it works and some history.
This kit is a great way of demonstrating how electrolysis of water can be used to store electricity. The kit uses batteries to provide the electricity needed to activate electrolysis. During electrolysis water is separated into hydrogen and oxygen, which are stored as gases in small built-in compartments. Then switch the wires to run in fuel cell mode, and the gases are fed into the fuel cell creating electric power to run the car motor.
