Build a Fuel Cell Car that Runs off of Water!
With this kit you can build a car that runs off of water. First, use the solar panel to separate water into hydrogen and oxygen. Then use the stored gases to power the experimental car. Detailed instruction booklet with lots of scientific explanations to help understand how it works.
Fuel cells are a promising energy technology for the future. Some fuel cells, like the ones used in this kit, are free of fossil fuels, thus making them environmentally friendly. The automobile industry is experimenting with fuel cells, and it is widely believed that this technology will be used in the future to power other devices, such as laptop computers and cell phones.
This kit is a great way of demonstrating how electrolysis of water can be used to store solar electricity. The kit includes a solar cell that provides the electricity needed to activate electrolysis. During electrolysis water is separated into hydrogen and oxygen, which are stored as gases in small built-in compartments. Then switch the wires to run in fuel cell mode, and the gases are fed into the fuel cell creating electric power to run the car motor.
